  • Age at least 35 years
  • Minimum 6 years’ progressive experience in health program management including with 3 years at senior management level·
  • Previous experience in sustainability or environmental management, preferably in a healthcare setting will add value·
  • Strong understanding of environmental regulations and standards·
  • Experience of working with the government specially with the Health and Family Planning Department and well acquainted with government’s service delivery procedures and monitoring and reporting mechanisms·
  • Demonstrative experiences of implementing health and development programs in costal belt and conversant with climate change resilience interventions·
  • Considerable experience in planning, Strategic thinking, Analytical skills, and influencing and negotiation skills with different stakeholders·
  • Experiences of ensuring stakeholders’ support and mobilization of resources from local government institutions and other civil society organizations.
  • Good interpersonal skills and working in diverse teams.
  • Good report writing skill and ability to work in demanding situation

Responsibilities & Context

Job Context:

Partners in Health and Development (PHD) is a Bangladeshi development organization has been working in the public health sector over 32 years and currently implementing different projects in 21 districts. PHD intends to hire a Technical Coordinator for its ‘Improving Women and Girls Resilience to Climate Change’ Project is being implementing in Bhola and Bagerhat Districts in support of UNFPA, funded by FCDO under the leadership guidance of Climate Change & Health Promotion Unit (CCHPU), of MOHFW.

Summary of the position:

Technical Coordinator- Green Hospital Initiatives, has to play an important role in fostering environmentally friendly procedures and ecological oversight inside the hospital grounds. Have to collaborate closely with other departments to implement green initiatives, minimize the hospital’s carbon footprint, and ensure environmental compliance. This position demands a strong commitment to sustainability, excellent organizational abilities, and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Job responsib1ilities:

  • Explore the ideas to support in piloting Green-Hospital initiative at Mongla Upazila Health Complex of Bagerhat district
  • Provide necessary cooperation and assistance to local health authorities, CCHPU of MoHFW, PHD and UNFPA in conducting any types of assessment, joint visit, meeting, training, orientation, reporting and guidelines for the Green Hospital Initiatives
  • Provide inputs to the baseline and implementation model designing based on the contextual findings
  • Facilitate the process to ensure the proposed Green hospital is with the proper facilities maintaining a standard matrix, as per project design
  • Arrange orientation and training (TOT and regular training) to respective team and the service staff following the guideline prepared by CCHPU on Green Hospital Initiatives, sustainable practices, environmental conservation for pro-poor and patient-centric hospital
  • Support the hospital authority for the implementation of set interventions of Green Hospital Initiatives, recycling programs and other waste management activities in eco-friendly, effective and efficient manner
  • Collaborate with departmental heads to identify opportunities for improvement in environmental performance and resource efficiency
  • Explore and ensure the source of eco-friendly products and materials for the hospital through coordinating with vendors and suppliers
  • Work with the facilities management team to optimize hospital operations for energy efficiency and environmental sustainability
  • Support hospital management / authorities in monitoring, responding to, and being familiar with environmental legislation and standards, and engage with regulatory bodies as needed
  • Conduct regular assessments to evaluate the hospital’s environmental impact and track progress towards sustainability goals
  • Perform role as a point of contact for inquiries related to the hospital’s environmental policies and initiatives
  • Maintain proper communication and liaison with respective UH&FPO -Mongla, Civil Surgeon- Bagerhat and other relevant key-stakeholders
  • Harmonized local Initiatives through engaging local actors; Strengthen Disaster Management Committee at Union/ Upazilla level and facilitate in process of organizing their regular meeting to grab benefits of the platforms supportive to Green Hospital initiative and climate change responsive at local
  • Monitoring the work progress of facility status and report to the PHD Senior Management in time to time
  • Inform PHD management immediately in case of any major deviation found in the process/ working environment and recommend for necessary adjustment
  • Do regular monitoring and prepare periodical progress reports (monthly, quarterly, need based), case studies / success story and submit to the concern (PHD, UNFPA) in a timely manner
  • Perform any other assignment delegated by the PHD Management.
